ItzOwamiaa: i honestly feel like we shouldn't even be calling it a 'happy' new year or celebrating it the way we do. maybe i would if fireworks and all those exploding stuff didn't exist. they look 'aesthetic' for a second, but in reality, they’re so destructive to humanity, animals, and the planet.
thousands of birds r literally going to die tonight because of the chaos in the sky and they r COMPLETELY unaware it’s coming. i was just on my balcony when the clock hit 12 AM, ppl went crazy with the fireworks… then i saw a bird (couldn't tell if it was a crow or pigeon cuz it was dark) just flying helplessly in total terror, trying to find a place to hide. that’s when reality hit me.
it’s not just birds, bats, cats, dogs, it’s dangerous for us too. i had a firework explode so close to my balcony i thought it was gonna land right on me. think about all the kids who get severe burns or lose fingers trying to light these things.
PS, the way people 'celebrate' by getting dangerously drunk or taking stuff that wrecks their bodies… how is that a good start to a year? for people with heart conditions, PTSD, or sensory issues/noise phobias, this isn't a “Happy New Year’s Day”, it’s “Nightmare’s Day” for them.
then there’s the environment. the chemical smoke, the litter, and the sky lanterns that literally start forest fires and kill trees. we’re destroying the very earth we’re supposed to be living on in 2026.

All I’m just tryna say that
we can definitely celebrate the year changing, but we have to stop doing it like this. we could just have a dinner, a picnic, or a chill party with family where the music isn’t deafening and people aren't losing their minds getting high and stuff. this might sound like 'sentimental shitty ahh yap' to some of yall, but i’m just tryna bring some awareness to the damage we ignore for the sake of a 5 second spark.
