lolis: Haven't you ever heard the phrase, "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder."? I wonder what you have to say about abstract impressionism -Pollock, Kandinsky....Or surrealists like Dali or Miro.
You seem to be, unfortunately, stuck in the same rut that Adolf Hitler got himself stuck in, as an artist, too. You understand things that you can recognize easily, and then render versions of those things, but you fear the unknown. Things like lightness and humor evade you, too. Maybe you are simply unable to think abstractly. Maybe you are humorless. But try not to be bitter when someone else (OTHER than yourself) gives a compliment out to a fellow artist. You aren't the only one who has that option around here.

Gemotron: Can we stop having month long debates in the gallery, getting very annoying to see them every other month.

Tomte: I'm not bitter at all, the only thing that irks me the wrong way is when a passive aggressive stoner american who can't draw stick figures properly imply I teach or study art because I'm unable to make it myself. I might tolerate such an insult from a fucking genius. But not someone who thinks that people are Hitler, for failing to value colorful squares made to vaguely resemble a face or "artists" shitting themselves on stage in protest against gender stereotypes. It's dumb and not beautiful at all. I think people who go on about preschool nonsense like beauty is in the eye of the beholder and how original it is to paint with feces. I think they have a psychological need to believe in the eye of the beholder crap in order to feel good about their work. If you're not an artist for a living, don't pretend you're their equal.

_Cry_: Any artist should know it is in their best interest to take critique no matter the skill, or skill of person giving critique, you dont have to be an asshole and go on like 60 rants no one gives a shit about just because someone said something you don´t like or approve of, i get it, you´re a professional artist, that´s good mate, but try to ACT more professional and not put others down, it doesn´t matter how good of an artist you are no one will fucking like you if you are just rude.
you can give critique without degrading the arist and other people looking at the drawing. That speaking...Tharn i really love what you did with the lighting, the painting does look a little heavier on the left but its balanced out well with the eagle in place, also i do think possibly a gradient in the sky would make it a bit better, due to the angle of the sun looking like its either setting or rising.. i do really love what you did with the foreground being darker though, its very nice. i hope you keep up the good work id love to see more. |
