Severed_Survival: A small summary of cancer biology: Chromosomes have a bit of non-protein coding DNA at the ends of them, called "telomeres". Every time a cell divides, the telomeres shorten slightly. Cells stop dividing when they run out of telomere DNA. In the case of cancer cells, they have an enzyme called "telomerase", which prevents telomere shortening. Therefore, cancer cells can divide indefinitely. Normal cell division and cancer cell division are completely different.
